It is important to remember that when a single individual or company has more than one role in QuickBooks they must be separated. Functions cannot be undone after records are merged, which is why a backup is always necessary.

It is also important to remember that payroll transactions can’t be merged. Accounts to be merged must have the same name, type, and level. Accounts having the same name but different level or different spellings cannot be merged. Also it is not possible to merge QuickBooks accounts having different account numbers
