China, 18th Dec 2022, King NewsWire – This EraSmart direct-to-film garment solution is built around a desktop printer.
Printing to film is more compatible than printing direct to garment. It’s compatible with many non-treated cottons, such as silk, cotton, polyester, denim and nylon. DtG printers can only print pretreated cotton. Another advantage is that DtF printing works with both white and dark textiles. Users can choose between a matte or glossy finish.
The appeal of this method is dependent on how it’s applied. It involves attaching a plastic coating to a garment which can compromise the fabric’s feel. I suggest this technique with smaller logos.
EraSmart uses an EraSmart A600 printer. It is a desktop inkjet printer that can print at 630mm wide and has been modified to accept DTF inks. EraSmart’s managing director explained that the basic chassis was modified by the EraSmart R&D team to meet the needs of DTF. This includes the ability to print white inks.
This printer can be used to print logos or artwork on a single-sided PET film. This solution is provided by the EraSmart Automatic PET Adhesive Powder Shaker. It evenly distributes light powder adhesive across artwork so that the film can be transferred to fabric. The unit also features infrared heating that binds the powder to the film.
EraSmart Inks also has hot-melt adhesive powder. This is said to bond the graphic and textile while still allowing for some flexibility. It can withstand 40+ washes, with maximum coverage and high-level transfer rates.
Naturally, EraSmart also offers its PET film. It claims it provides excellent printer roller traction with minimal static. This allows for high-quality printing without background artifacts. It can withstand high temperatures and pressures from a heat press.
The Powder Shaker can be replaced by the EraSmart Transfer Film Curing Oven. This oven is suitable for cutting sheet prints and roll-to-sheet prints. It can cure films upto 58.42 cm by 48.26 cm at 150oC. The oven has a timer that sounds an alarm once the curing is complete.
SAi Flexi’s RIP Software completes the solution. It allows users to create custom cut lines names and colours, and even supports printing while RIP’ing. It can also be used with multiple-layer Adobe Illustrator files or PDF files. These can then be divided into multiple jobs that can then be processed as spot colors like white and varnish.
The EraSmart inks are the key to the system. They offer high colour density and a wide range of colours. This water-based ink is designed to be used with Epson printer heads and is available in CMYK or white.
EraSmart was founded in 2009. It says that EraSmart has reduced the footprint of each essential DTF component, developed a user-friendly program, bundled the best supplies and is offering the EraSmart DTF System for a lower price and better performance than any other product on the market today.
