Shenzhen, China, 3rd Dec 2021, ZEXPRWIRE, On November 23, CIGA Design launched the CIGA Design U Series Mechanical Watch on Indiegogo and surpassed its funding goal within an hour. Designed by reknown industrial designer, Paul Cohen, the CIGA Design U Series is inspired by the wonders of the black hole. The inspiration comes from a historical event where the black hole was first photographed by the Event Horizon Telescope.
The mechanical watch is available on Indiegogo for the super early bird price of $279 USD, limited offer from recommended retail price of $395. The CIGA Design U Series transcends standard watch design by utilizing the empty space black holes create where light can’t escape. Watch each second tick with precision, as though it was floating through space.
The CIGA Design U Series has double curved lens that “hovers” over the black-coated plate to create a black hole effect. The orange gem engraved in the crown pays homage to the first photo taken of a black hole by the Event Horizon Telescope. The hands are arc-shaped hollow hands. The hour hand is in silver, white the minute and second hands are painted with luminous orange .
The watch comes in two different type of case, and backers could choose between a shiny stainless steel or lightweight titanium alloy case. The choices of straps that are available are black rubber, stainless steel, and titanium. Backers could choose the straps and case according to personal comfort level and style.
The CIGA Design U Series is equipped with Seiko NH06 Movement. The movement
frequency is 21,600 times/hour, 21 jewels, and energy storage is 40 hours.
The watch face comes in either titanium or stainless steel and is made with artificial sapphire.
