Amaran Senior Living, Albuquerque’s First Intergenerational Montessori Assisted Living and Memory Care, Opens for Tours and New Residents

West Linn, OR, 8 Aug 2021, ZEXPRWIRE, On June 17th, 2021, Amaran Senior Living, located at 9100 Holly Ave. NE, opened its doors to serve the seniors of Albuquerque by providing assisted living and memory care services.  Amaran Senior Living shares a campus with Nido, a Montessori nursery, and Montessori ONE Academy, the only AMI-recognized (Association Montessori International/USA) school in Albuquerque with programming for infants, preschoolers, and elementary schools.

Through the partnership with Nido and Montessori ONE Academy, Amaran is able to provide intergenerational programming and aspires to bring in a cross-generational experience. Residents and children are able to interact with each other throughout the day, walking back and forth from each campus to participate in various activities together. Similar to Montessori teachings based on dignity and respect, Amaran is focused on providing personalized care through customized approaches and purpose-driven, meaningful activities to create an environment with rich and diverse opportunities, activities, and experiences.

Floor plans in the assisted living consist of studios and 1- or 2- bedrooms, many with stainless-steel, full-sized refrigerators with ice makers, individual washer and dryers, remote-controlled shades, moveable kitchen islands, contemporary closet organizers, and offering a technology package to allow smart home features.

Memory care apartments include natural light, closet organizers, and various square footage private room options. Under the guidance of a highly trained Montessori guide, Amaran’s memory care offers a comfortable home setting where residents are able to engage their varying interests.  Montessori work stations are plentiful and constantly rotating based on the knowledge of each resident’s life experience and rapport with the care partners. The programming is designed to support individuals to care for themselves, to care for their community environment, and to match/meet the mental, physical and spiritual needs of each person.

With more than 15,000 square feet of amenity space, Amaran Senior Living includes multiple dining options, a rooftop terrace and bar, full-service spa and salon, fitness center, art studio, workshop, theater, game room with pool table, demonstration kitchen, community garden, pet park, and several multi-purpose spaces.

During COVID, Amaran believes it is possible to stay social while physically distancing.  Using innovative technology such as needlepoint bipolar ionization through the HVAC system and sign-in kiosks with health screenings at the community’s entrance, consistent safety protocols, and the community’s design with multiple open spaces throughout, residents are given the opportunity to maintain their independence and active lifestyle.

The project team includes Paaru Builders, Montessori ONE Academy and Dekker/Perich/Sabatini, with Amaran’s management by Insight Senior Living.
